One of the most anticipated projects is the brand-new Rushmore Recreational Complex, which will feature a competition-size pool, huge Splash Park and modern clubhouse, a game-changer for families looking for a fun and safe place to cool off during the hot summer months.
At Madison Avenue Skatepark we will be adding a new outdoor fitness equipment center. The improvements include installation of outdoor fitness equipment, resilient rubberized surfacing, replacement of fencing and repair of the knee wall and retaining wall.
Hannah Atkins is scheduled to have a Completely Inclusive Playground (CIP) also to upgrade the Community Center to add a family changing room.
Seidler Field Playground is scheduled to have a new ADA Playground. In Addition, with the consideration of adding a family changing room to the restroom area.
Another landmark project underway is the Center of Excellence, set to be constructed on Watching Avenue. This world-class facility will serve as a training ground for young athletes, a space for after-school programs, and a hub for personal development. The Center will include indoor basketball courts, fitness areas, meeting spaces, and mentoring programs that help youth develop leadership skills both on and off the court. Mayor Mapp’s vision for the Center of Excellence is to provide a space where young people can hone their talents, stay engaged in positive activities, and build a strong foundation for their future.
Plainfield’s commitment to recreation doesn’t stop there. Plans are also moving forward for a brand-new recreational facility on North Avenue, which will serve as a multi-use community space. This center will feature indoor sports courts, fitness equipment, event spaces, and specialized programs for youth, adults, and seniors. The North Avenue facility is designed to bring residents together, whether through sports leagues, exercise classes, or community workshops.
